Made By Mom

Mumma's Mathri

Crisp, buttery, and just salty enough. Made from whole wheat flour, cold ghee, and hand-ground ajwain — the same tin that appeared every winter morning, without ever being asked.

Mumma's Mathri — golden, crispy, hand-rolled with cold ghee

Tastes Like Home

The same recipe for 30 winters. If you grew up with good Mathri, this will take you back.

The Signature Tin

Mumma's Mathri

A winter morning ritual in Indian homes for generations. Made with cold ghee worked into whole wheat flour, hand-crushed ajwain, and a pinch of rock salt — then fried slowly in a heavy kadhai until every cracker is golden and hollow and perfectly crisp.

Mumma's Kitchen — rolling Mathri at dawn

A Winter Morning

Every Winter, Without Being Asked

Before anyone in the house was awake, Mumma would already be in the kitchen. The smell of ajwain blooming in warm ghee would slowly fill the house, followed by the sound of the chakla and belan.

By the time breakfast was called, there was a full tin of Mathri waiting — golden, crisp, and still warm. She never announced it. It was simply there, the way warmth is simply there in the right kind of home.

We started MadeByMom because we could not find this taste anywhere else. And because we believed other people deserved to have it too — even if their own Mumma never made it.

I have been trying to find a Mathri that tastes like my nani's for fifteen years. This is it. I ordered four tins just to be sure.

The ghee is real. You can taste it. I do not know how else to explain it — it just tastes correct in a way that supermarket ones never do.

We buy this for every Diwali and every train journey. The tin travels better than we do.
